లగడపాటి పరార్.....!!!!

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, who has been on a fast-unto-death for the past six days against the Centre’s move to bifurcate the State, ‘‘slipped’’ out of the Government General Hospital here on Sunday night. The surprise move came even as police were making arrangements to shift him to the NRI Hospital in Mangalagiri around 10 p.m. Lagadapati came out of the hospital and walked towards mediapersons outside. But, instead of giving a soundbyte, he got into his vehicle and it zipped past the waiting journalists at break-neck speed hitting the hospital gates on the way.The vehicle was seen going towards the ring road which leads to Visakhapatnam. The MP’s followers soon followed him in their own vehicles. Taken aback by Lagadapati’s vanishing act, the police gave him a chase. City Congress committee president Pyla Sominaidu expressed the suspicion that the police might have kidnapped the fasting leader and demanded that they bring him back as his condition was deteriorating.Rajagopal had requested the police to shift him either to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad or the KGH in Visakhapatnam. The MP was miffed with the police for breaking his camp at the Swaraj Maidan here and packing him to the government hospital on Saturday.A total of 300 policemen were posted at the hospital. A surveillance camera was also set up in front of the building. The MP’s escape has made a mockery of it all.The police sounded a red alert in Vijayawada and alerted all the checkposts on the national highways leading to Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. However, the man’s whereabouts were not known till reports last came in
